Facebook Live Video Script Template

One of the biggest challenges for doing a live video is that you need to talk for a pretty long time (20 minutes to be exact) in order to captivate an audience.

Why 20 minutes?

Because Facebook said so. 😝

Seriously though, the longer you broadcast, the more people who are scrolling through their News Feeds on Facebook will see it!

So what's the secret to remembering what to say without fumbling over your words?

Answer: The Why, What, How and What If? Formula

When planning out your Facebook live broadcast, think about these four questions from the point of view of your audience.

Why would I want to know about this?

  • Why would I want to hear about this particular topic?

  • Why is it important for me to know about this right now?

What is this all about?

  • What are the facts?

  • What do I need to know to get started?

How will it work for me?

  • How can I use this right now?

  • How do I implement these ideas?

What if I decide to follow your advice?

  • What would happen as a result of my doing what you're saying?

  • What are the consequences of using it, what are the consequences of not using it?

You see, the reason why you would want to think of these answers is because, people will be asking these questions, whether their consciously aware of it or not.

You've popped into the Facebook News Feed, now give viewers a reason why they should stop what they’re doing and pay attention to you.

What you will find is that viewers tend to assimilate information in different ways and that's what the Why, What, How and What If formula is all about... it's about structuring your Facebook Live so that you can captivate your audience.

So as you think about your next live video, think of how your audience can benefit from your broadcast and how they can easily implement your suggestions.

For students of my Lights, Camera, Live program, I have them complete the Why, What, How and What If grid for all of their broadcasts.

Now you might be thinking, "What if I started structuring my Facebook Live this way; what would be the consequences of doing this?"

Well one would be that viewers will be given the exact info they need. It'll also set you up for success because folks can decide if they want to tune in live or watch the replay.
